台灣是個有著多樣宗教發展的國家,在宗教的議題上,台灣比較沒有強烈的立場,也培養成對宗教相對多元開放的態度。
然而台灣還是有許多地方受到宗教的影響,例如在清朝在台灣傳教過的馬雅各和巴克禮,對於羅馬文字的拼音和書寫都有極大的影響,因為當時台灣話沒有文字體,但傳教士們為了翻譯聖經,便採用羅馬拼音的方式將原住民語和台灣話紀錄下來。而在其他宗教也有這種情形,例如伊斯蘭教的可蘭經在一開始只能用阿拉伯文背誦,後來由於伊斯蘭教徒廣布,才有其他版本出現,但伊斯蘭教對於阿拉伯文的堅持也可以從其他地方窺見,例如姬覺彌的《漢譯古蘭經》被認為是最早的可蘭經中文全譯本,卻因為非直接從阿拉伯文翻譯而來(參考了日語與英語版本)而不被穆斯林認同。另外,伊斯蘭教的阿訇(音轟,伊斯蘭教的神職人員)也被要求一定要會阿拉伯文。
